The Scenic Northwest - Great Northern - A Dependable Railway The exact date of this Great Northern route guide is not known, but can be dated approximately from June 1929 (inauguration of the Empire Builder) to March 29, 1931 (discontinuance of the Oriental Limited due to the Depression). This is a massive guide, 52 pages long, describing in exquisite detail onboard train features, towns and scenic views along the way (there are 7 pages on Glacier National Park alone).
